Well, I guess I'll start the discussion on this brothers. What is your tke on the whole Mr. America gimmick ? What was your favorite moment ? Personally, I thought the gimmick was great, and a good change of pace for Hogan, and it provided a lot of hillarious moments, such as the encounter between Mr. America and Gregory Helms. "I hear you're actually Hulk Hogan!" "Well brother, I hear your really the hurricane!" I also was a big fan of the attire, and wish the had at least made one figure. My fave moment has to be his debut on Piper's Pit, I hadn't read the spoilers beforehand, so it came as a total surprise. For those who don't remember Mr. America that much, here's a geocities site I made back in the day, I haven't updated it, but there's some decent info on there I think. www.geocities.com/mr_america03/

Of course being a Huge Hulkamaniac, I enjoyed it...at first. The ring attire was great and the real american entrance music was great to hear but it did start to wear on my after a while. Don't get me wrong, I still watched but as time went on I just thought Hogan deserved better. A 2 week run of it would've been fine with me. But overall they probably should've just left the Mr. America gimmick in the closet when it was all said & done. Not much came of it.
But that being said, it was another chapter in Hogan's life that shows once again how adaptable he can be.

Ah, Mr. America.
For what it was, it was fun to watch. He drove Mr. McMahon crazy with the whole "I am NOT Hulk Hogan" deal, and watching Vince try and prove it was funny as well. If I had to pick a favorite Mr. America moment, it would have to be the first appearance the gimmick made, on Piper's Pit. The roof blew off when "Real American" played. It was such magic.
Interestingly, this wasn't the first time Hulk did a masked gimmick, either (Super Destroyer and Hulk Machine come to mind).

I found the premise behind it to be really stupid. Assuming that I have a double digit IQ, shouldn't I find it a little strange for Stephanie to sign this unknown "Mr. America" person to an unbreakable contract without knowing who he even is, when all WWE deals have 90-day termination clauses? And since Smackdown is a business, shouldn't she at least know who she is giving this unbreakable contract to? And knowing that her dad hates Hogan (in kayfabe), wouldn't she try to avoid signing him so he doesn't fire her? This is the same guy that wanted to do an incest angle with her, so I'm sure he'd have no problem sending his daughter to the unemployment line. And even if I do accept all of this, logically speaking, why the hell would Hogan even tease taking off part of the mask, giving his face away? I have no problem with suspending disbelief, as it is absolutely necessary to have successful sports entertainment television, but there is a difference between suspending disbelief and insulting to my intelligence.
I will say that I was very much in favor of him re-stealing Windham and Rotundo's music. Easily the best entrance music he's ever had. And for comedy, it was a good comedy gimmick. I enjoyed it a lot more at the time than I do now, since I've been spoiled by HUSTLE. Ironically, Ogawa is better at being Mr. America than Hogan was. Seeing him sing "Real American" backstage while doing the posing routine is something words cannot describe.
