On WWE 24/7 Online, Hulk Hogan vs. Nick Bockwinkel from AWA Super Sunday (4/24/83) is now available for viewing for $1.49. This is a classic match featuring Hulk's second World title victory (not validated until April 2005 though).

I have some questions regarding this match:
1) Is it true that Verne Gagne was going to let Hogan win the title, but he changed his mind when they both argued over financial matters?
2) Was this match supposed to end this way? I have read that all the fans was anticipating a title change.
3) Why was it finally acknowledged as a Hulk Hogan title win in 2005 (22 years after the match!)?
Thank you for your response.

Yes, Verne wanted to have Hulk go over that night for the AWA title. Gagne started demanding a percentage of his Japanese earnings in exchange for the title win though, which perturbed Hulk a great deal (and rightly so). Gagne even wanted to go so far as have Hulk marry into his family in order to ensure he'd never leave the AWA! Hulk decided he didn't want the title if he had to give up earnings from Japan and his bachelor status. Gagne then dared Hulk to come up with a new finish for the match, and what you saw on Super Sunday was exactly what Hulk came up with. 2. No, it was supposed to end with Hulk winning the title. 3. Here is a good link which explains the decision made by the AWA in 2005: click here: www.awastars.com/hogan.html
